Evolving Website Content

From big hair to shoulder pads, some things just go out of style—like blogging in the hospitality industry. What should your business do now?

Our topic today is about having evolving website content to keep your website up-to-date.

Blogging has Changed / R.I.P. Blogs

Blogging started off being shared among friends and family. The reason why it's evolved and changed is because Google is a lot better at finding things to do and restaurants in your area. TripAdvisor and other online travel agencies have tapped into that. Seasonal promotions or special offers are handled by social media nowadays.

Don't remove blog content, but stop referring to it as a blog. Clients don't read blogs.

Relevant Content

People are searching for destinations. We want to provide the content for the destinations they're looking for by producing landing pages. A landing page is any page that the visitor can land on to read about the destination they're looking for. Some of the big landing pages you'll want to use are a things to do/attractions page and a dining/restaurants page.

A lot of the bigger hotel chains are making landing pages related to a promotion or special offer. You can use social media to direct customers to this landing page, so they'll book directly with you.

What action do I want the reader/visitor to take?

Landing pages have a specific purpose. They are created for one of the following purposes:

  • Click throughs
  • Lead generation
  • Purchase

Before you create a page on your website, decide what purpose it will serve.
Keep in Mind:

1. Know your goal. What is your call to action?
2. Focus on benefits over features.
3. Explain the transformation.
4. Be concise and clear.
5. Use elements & formatting.
6. Speak directly to the reader.
7. It's okay to bend grammar rules, if it sounds natural.

End with a Call to Action:

  • Include proof
  • Imply urgency
  • Overcome objections
  • Use action words

In Conclusion

Having relevant content can help you better connect with your audience. Remember to:

  • Have a call to action
  • Speak to your customers and their needs
  • Know your goal for each page

We hope having relevant content will help your business to grow.
