Winter Season (December 19, 2024 to April 17, 2025) reservations are open!

Summer Season (June 29 to October 1 weather permitting) reservations open March 31st at 8am. Please note we are not open on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in the summer.

All units are rented either for 2 night stay during the week or 3 night stay over the weekends. During our summer season we will not operate on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Prices are per block and all reservations are subject to 12.5% Sierra County Transient Occupancy Tax.

Check-In
Check-in after 1:00 p.m. (pacific time) on day of arrival.

Check-Out
Check-out before 10:00 a.m. (pacific time) on day of departure. Guests are expected to clean-up after themselves, do their dishes, clean, sweep and straighten up their hut before departing. Please be sure your unit is cleaned per room instructions.

Pets
As much as we love our 4-legged companions, dogs are NOT allowed.

Access
We do not allow motorized access to the Frog Lake Huts.

Smoking
Smoking or vaping of any kind is not allowed. No open flames (candles, etc) are allowed in the units.

Footwear
In the winters, ski boots or snowboard boots are not allowed in the huts. In the summers, hiking boots or climbing shoes are not allowed in the huts. Slippers are available on site or you can bring your own.

Internet/Cell Service
There is limited cellphone coverage in the area. We ask that cell phone use in the common Eschenbach Backcountry House be prohibited. This is intended as the communal space where groups cook, dine, lounge and hang-out.

Garbage
We practice "leave no trace". You’ll need to pack out your own trash and food stuffs.

Tent Camping or Bivy
Tent camping or utilizing a bivy is strictly prohibited onsite or in the Frog Lake Basin.

Quiet Hours
Please respect quiet hours between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (pacific time).

Guides
We offer complimentary lodging onsite for guides. Please let us know if you have hired a guide before your arrival so we can prepare accordingly.

Hutmeisters
Our hutmeisters are onsite to make your visit safe, enjoyable and make you feel at home. They are not waiters, cooks, guides, avalanche forecasters or maids. Hutmeisters will NOT provide you with route guidance. Hutmeisters will NOT evacuate you in the event of an emergency, that is your responsibility. Hutmeisters can be reached at 530-536-8675.

Cancellations
We cannot guarantee the weather, snow or stability of the snowpack; therefore there is no refund due to weather conditions, poor snow conditions, lack of snow, too much snow or avalanche hazard, wind, dust, wildfire or poor air quality.

We understand that your plans may have to change. If you cancel within 30 days of your arrival date, no refund is given (including due to sickness or emergency). If you cancel with more than 30 days notice, you are entitled to a 80% refund on your rental fees. You can change your reservation up to 30 days ahead of your visit at no charge assuming alternate dates are available. There are no refunds for early departures.


Truckee Donner Land Trust and its hutmeisters are not responsible for loss, damages or claims to property of guests due to fire, theft, accident or any other cause. The management also reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. Fireworks or discharging firearms is prohibited.
