May 4, 2026: We had ice out on April 21st. We are getting excited for the opener. We have couple cabins available at reduced rates for the fishing opener. Take your mother fishing on Mother's Day! The fishing has been good this past year and we are looking forward to this year (see fish photos from this winter and last summer) on our events page). There were lots of fish stories! Three fishermen around the 4th of July caught 22 crappies, the smallest being 10” in 1 ½ hour of fishing during the evening bite. One young fisherwoman caught with her pink fishing pole a northern the week of the 4th over 39 inches long and weighing 12 lbs. Lots of big walleyes & bass and crappie (14 inches) were caught this past spring!

🌈TRAIL REPORT: May 4, 2026🌈 Our 14 miles of onsite nature trails are drying out and starting to show green foliage. It is a great time of the year to get out hiking or biking on the trails and enjoy nature. It is the best time of the year to see far into the forest. The waterfowl and other birds have returned to the wetlands and forest. The call of the wild is all around! The two observation decks along the trails provide a great place for viewing wildlife and birds. We are offering free trail passes and only ask that you sign in at the lodge before going out on the trails. Hope to see you on the trails!

The NOAA snow depth map for March 20th showed our 4-county area having snow cover at a trace to 16". (The location of Rainbow Resort is shown on the NOAA map by the red arrows.) However, it is still a good time to get out and explore the trails & woods and do some fishing. #justski #skiwise #strava 🎈We are offering FREE trail passes. However, it is still a good time to get out and explore the trails & woods and do some fishing.
Becker County has over 250 miles of groomed trails. The Becker County trails connect to hundreds of other trails in the area. Ride to Detroit Lakes, the Shooting Star Casino, Park Rapids, the Headwaters of the Mississippi River in Itasca State Park and beyond. Of course, when riding on lakes one always wants to be careful of ice conditions as ice thickness can vary greatly.
We have cozy cabins, premium gas, a sauna in the recreation center and some hot food, snacks and beverage in the lodge. After a day on the trails relax in the sauna, play some pool in our recreation center while watching some big games on TV and/or enjoy some hot food and beverages in the lodge while enjoying the scenic overview of the lake. Try some ice fishing as we have good ice fishing and have winter fishing equipment rentals and live bait. We have a variety of activities for the whole family with snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sliding hill, etc.
