Named for Charlene's grandfather, G. A. Bernard Johnson was born in St. Paul, MN in 1892. Bernard worked many jobs in his life from traveling the rails, digging graves and a farm hand. He met his future wife, Effie Pearl Griffin, from the Mann Valley area near River Falls, WI, while working on her uncle's farm. Bernard loved to write poems and raise and show pigeons. His book of poems is in the room for guests to enjoy.
Located on the second floor, a queen four poster bed adorns this large room along with two easy rocking chairs with a lake view. Relax in the double whirlpool in your private bath. A small refrigerator is included for your convenience.

Named for Richard's mother, Julia Mary Louise Melancon was born in Little Canada, MN, in 1910, and is the granddaughter of Lady Ann Clewett who was the first white girl born in St. Paul, MN. She married Frank E. Berg on June 27, 1936 and moved to Osceola where she lived until her death in March 1994.
Enjoy this comfortable room, located on the main floor, with a queen brass bed, two easy rocking chairs, a private bath with a corner double whirlpool and patio doors that access your private deck overlooking the lake. A CD player is also available for your listening enjoyment and a small refrigerator is included for your convenience.

Lady Ann Clewett, born in 1842, was the first white girl born in St. Paul, MN. Her father, James Reuben Clewett, was born in England in 1810 and came to the United States in 1829. He married Rose Ann Perry in April, 1839. Theirs being the first marriage performed in St. Paul, MN.
James Clewett was a clerk with the American Fur Trading Company in Prairie du Chein, WI and Traverse de Sioux at St. Peter, MN. He also accompanied Joseph Nicollet on several mapping expeditions across Minnesota.
This spacious lower level three room suite offers a queen pine bed, an in-room double whirlpool with shower, a private sitting area with lake access, private living room area with TV/VCR/DVD, a small refrigerator and an unattached private bath with a shower. Although this suite will sleep 4, the rate is based on 2 adults and it is limited to 2 adults. You must call to make arrangements for an additional person.
