Switch from Astra Campground Manager to ResNexus

ResNexus doesn’t charge reservation fees for bookings from our online booking engine. We help campgrounds collect more commission free reservations and increase their return guest rate.

In addition to their monthly subscription, Campground Manager (Astra) which is owned by Aspira charges $5 for each reservation taken through their marketing channels BookYourSite and ReserveAmerica.

ResNexus provides connections to Pitchup, Expedia, Booking.com, AirBnb, and more. These marketing channels charge anywhere from 6-30% per online reservation booked through their directories. However, research shows that online guests still try to book direct through a properties website. The ResNexus online booking engine is easy to use and helps campground guests book direct without charging them or your business additional fees.

With Campground Manager your property has a booking engine linked to your competition. In fact, your potential guest is either encouraged (BookYourSite) or required (ReserveAmerica) to register with their brand—not yours. In essence you are sending your potential guests back to a marketing channel similar to Expedia, Booking.com and AirBnb so that you can pay an unnecessary per online reservation fee.

ResNexus Essentials and Professional Editions includes free setup, data import and support. We also don’t charge to import your data into ResNexus. Our map builder technology allows you to use your existing map. However, if you would like ResNexus to build a map for your property, our maps start at $499 for 50 sites and then $10 per additional site. The maximum that we charge for a map is $2,500.

Astra Campground Manager charges a $900 fee to get your property setup. They do provide an interactive map as part of this fee.

If your guest accidently closes the browser window or gets interrupted—no problem—Cart Abandonment allows you to collect potential guest information such as name, email, and phone number and encourage them to complete their reservation. This allows your business to collect even more commission free revenue.

Campground Manager doesn’t offer built in cart abandonment tools.

With ResNexus, in most cases you can use your current credit card processor–there is no need to switch. In addition, we offer ResNexus Payments which can either match your current rate. Either way, payments are processed and seamlessly funded to your business' bank account. There are no additional fees from ResNexus to process credit cards.

Astra Campground Manager credit card processors are VeriFone’s PAYware Connect and Edge Link Cloud. If your processor doesn’t work with those two options then your campground will need to switch.

Includes hosting, security, and initial design! Most website companies charge anywhere between $2,500 to $5,000+ to initially build your website. Your ResNexus Website automatically updates your site rates, policies and more—saving you even more time and money.

Aspira / Astra Campground Manager doesn’t offer website services.

The ResNexus booking engine is easy-to-use and is fully customizable. In addition, the ResNexus Team makes sure that your online booking engine matches your current website, whether it is provided by ResNexus or not. That means when potential guests go to reserve a site, they don’t feel like they are being sent to a different looking website. In addition, all reservations that come through the ResNexus online booking engine are commission free.

Campground Manager sends your guest to BookYourSite. Their logo is displayed instead of your campground’s logo. If you click on the BookYourSite logo your guest leaves your property to go shop elsewhere. In addition, the transition can leave your guest wondering why they were moved to another website with a different logo. Why teach your potential guests to go to a marketing channel like AirBnb to finish booking with you? It could lead to a decrease in potential guests.

That’s why the ResNexus booking engine shows your sites or map right from the start–a unique benefit that helps your business increase reservations. Your booking engine is your virtual store—immediately show your guests what they want to buy.

Your campground policies are important—but preventing your guest from seeing any sites until they have read and agreed to them can disrupt the natural shopping process. With BookYourSite a potential guest can’t select the dates of their stay until they agree to the policies. Do you want your guest’s first impression to be a list of rules?

With ResNexus you can book from a map or by site. The price is clearly labeled. In addition, if your guest accidently closes the browser window or gets interrupted—no problem—ResNexus remembers their site or unit selection when they start shopping again.

After BookYourSite has required agreement of policies and the guest has entered dates, unit type and unit length the guest can select an available option with a price shown. However on the next screen the price disappears and the guest has to enter more questions and click a "Calculate Price" button. This can leave your guest wondering why the price increased. In addition, if the guest takes too long during the shopping process on BookYourSite they have to start all over beginning with agreeing to the policies and ending with entering all the fields again.

During the booking process you can offer retail items, specials or packages in an intuitive and eye-catching way. Retail items can give your business thousands of dollars in more revenue and enhance your guests stay. Your policies stand out because ResNexus uses a simply step by step progression throughout the reservation process.

Like ResNexus, Campground Manager has a built-in POS system, but it doesn’t let you sell retail items online.

Astra and Aspira can be found on Capterra, but has few reviews. Google reviews are not allowed on all 6. Astra has 4.8 rating on Facebook with 5 reviews. ReserveAmerica has a 1.9 rating on FaceBook with 87 reviews. The BookYourSite App has a 1-Star Rating. Astra does have call in support, chat and a video library.

Campground Manager (Astra) uses self assessment to determine their PCI compliance. Any software that records, inputs or collects credit card data, whether tokenized or not, should have a qualified 3rd party audit there system and procedures.

BookYourSite does offer automatic email templates, but they are BookYourSite focused and centric. In addition, they are not as visually appealing nor brand specific as the default ResNexus emails.

ResNexus displays your top retail offers and specials to potential guests right from the start. All your retail items are shown once the guest selects a campground or site.

Astra BookYourSite doesn’t have retail sidebars or allow you to sell retail items online.

ResNexus developed our innovative automatic yield management capabilities in late 2013. ResNexus increases your revenue by automatically changing your rates based on occupancy. In addition, your property also can require the guest to stay a minimum number of nights. ResNexus makes it easy to set daily, weekly and monthly rates.

Although Campground Manager does offer yield management, they resisted and discouraged the lodging and airline proven practice. Again showing that Campground Manager is slow to innovate and keep up with hospitality trends.

ResNexus connects to a wide variety of marketing channels such as Booking.com, Expedia, and TripAdvisor in a couple of ways. However you choose to connect to your marketing channels, ResNexus has an option right for your business. We also offer direct connections to Booking.com, Expedia, and AirBnb. ResNexus is willing to direct connect to ReserveAmerica but past offers have been declined.

Astra created its own marketing channel and directory called BookYourSite. Since the Aspira/ReserveAmerica buyout in late 2018 you can also connect to ReserveAmerica. Astra Campground Manager does not let you connect to other marketing channels and directories such as Booking.com, Expedia, and AirBnb.
