ResNexus vs ThinkReservations

ResNexus and ThinkReservations have come to a lawsuit settlement agreement. As part of the settlement, ThinkReservations has agreed to never again access ResNexus' back office without permission. The penalty if they do so is $2,000,000. Since the beginning of ResNexus, any business that has wanted to leave ResNexus to use a different property management system can export—or ask for an export of—their reservation and guest data. This is a tech industry standard and provides the business with their data without giving any third parties access to protected areas of a service or product. When ResNexus discovered that ThinkReservations was hacking ResNexus with borrowed credentials, ResNexus asked ThinkReservations to stop. Even after receiving a cease and desist letter from our legal counsel, ThinkReservations continued. Even after ResNexus put in place new security measures to prohibit unauthorized access, ThinkReservations continued to try to find ways around these measures, and did not stop trying to access ResNexus until they were served a lawsuit from ResNexus. It is telling that ThinkReservations agreed to stop its scraping only after ResNexus filed the lawsuit.

Prior to this lawsuit, ThinkReservations did not ask ResNexus for any exports, and they did not ask us to improve our export process. ThinkReservations built a custom hacking program to gather information from inside ResNexus. ResNexus' Subscription Agreement prohibits ResNexus clients from sharing their username and password with anyone, and the Agreement has direct language prohibiting such sharing with other third parties and competitors. By requesting client credentials, ThinkReservations was causing ResNexus clients to violate the terms of the ResNexus Agreement. They then used the client's ResNexus username and password to enable access for this program. Any act of gaining unauthorized access by itself goes against PCI and GDPR compliance. ResNexus (Convoyant LLC) and ThinkReservations (DeepThink LLC) have come to a settlement agreement. As part of the settlement, ThinkReservations has agreed to never again access ResNexus' back office without permission. The penalty if they do so is $2,000,000. It is telling that ThinkReservations agreed to stop its scraping only after ResNexus filed the lawsuit.

ResNexus direct connection commission is 1%. However, ResNexus offers options that don't charge any commission fee for OTA bookings. Again, that's a 0% commission fee for bookings that come from Expedia, Booking.com, Airbnb and more.

ThinkReservations provides direct connections to Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, HotelTonight, and TripAdvisor. In addition, ThinkReservations charges a 3% commission for these OTA bookings.

ThinkReservations doesn’t have retail sidebars. They do have retail items with pictures even smaller than the ones for their rooms.

Cart Abandonment includes tracking reports and automatic email reminders to guests who did not complete the purchase.

ThinkReservations has partnered with CartStack and does offer Cart Abandonment tools for an additional monthly fee.

ResNexus can connect to a wide variety of marketing channels including Booking.com, Expedia, and TripAdvisor. Direct connections to Booking.com, Expedia, and Airbnb are also available and reduce costs even more. In addition, ResNexus has a unique direct connection to VRBO that does not use ical. This helps prevent double bookings from having to manually enter in reservations from VRBO. ResNexus has commission-free pricing options to connect to the OTAs. This means that your business has zero additional commission fees charged by your PMS software.

ThinkReservations only has a handful of marketing channel connections, these include Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb and TripAdvisor. In addition, ThinkReservations charges up to 3% commission on marketing channel reservations.

ResNexus achieved Preferred Partner status with both Expedia and Airbnb for building and maintaining a quality integration with these world-class marketing channels. This means ResNexus offers powerful features and capabilities built into the pms system from these providers.

ThinkReservations integrates with Expedia and Airbnb, but has not achieved Preferred Parter status with either.

When it comes to shopping online, bigger is better. ResNexus showcases your rooms beautifully with pictures almost 2x larger than ThinkReservations'.

The default image size of ThinkReservations' pictures are almost half the size of ResNexus'. Don't make your guests have to squint or click to see what you have to offer.

Right from the start your guest can see what they want to see—your rooms! If there is no vacancy then the guest can quickly select the 2-month or more calendar and see when the room is available right from the start.

There are few things more frustrating to a potential guest than seeing no room pictures when they have selected their travel dates. If there are no rooms available, ThinkReservations shows a calendar page with red "X's". In addition, they have a form for guests to add themselves to a waitlist.

The ResNexus booking engine is fully customizable. That means when potential guests go to reserve a room they don’t feel like they are being sent to a different looking website. It's even more seamless with a website provided by ResNexus.

ThinkReservations allows you to customize their booking engine. Unlike ResNexus, without seamless website builder technology, having your booking engine rates match other pages of your website might require more time and effort.

ResNexus was designed with your guest in mind, because we know that if your guest has a great shopping experience your business will increase revenue. ResNexus uses simple step-by-step progression with room selection, multiple rate types, retail offers, policy agreement, and payment information. In addition, your guest has the option of shopping by special or package first and then selecting the room–a ResNexus-only feature!

The ThinkReservation Booking Engine does alert the guest if special or package requirements are not met. However, unlike ResNexus the ThinkReservations Booking Engine doesn't help the guest fulfill the special or package requirements through an automated wizard.

With ResNexus Travel Protection, you can protect your business from revenue losses from last-minute cancellations due to illness, injury, or death. Your guests can simply select the Travel Protection option during the booking process, and if they cancel for one of the protected reasons, both you and your guest will be reimbursed 100% of the booking cost minus the travel protection fee.

ThinkReservations does not currently provide a limited warranty trip protection integration. If a guest has to cancel last-minute due to illness or health condition, your property must fall back on your own cancellation policies, which could result in a loss of revenue depending on the strictness of your terms and conditions.

In the event the guest cannot make their reservation due to a wide variety of unforeseen illnesses or health conditions, they can apply for a 100% room reimbursement any time up to 14 days before the departure date or up to 30 days after. The automated Travel Protection refund portal looks like your online booking engine and helps reduce the headache of managing the administration of refund processing. In addition, much of the refund or reimbursement process is automatically handled by ResNexus on your behalf. This reduces back and forth phone calls or emails with the guest during the cancellation process.

ThinkReservations does not integrate with a trip protection service, meaning that your business is responsible for handling all cancellations that may occur last-minute due to illness or health condition.

ResNexus launched a mobile app (both iOS and Android) for property managers to help you manage your business on the go. This allows you to perform many of the most important operations you need in the palm of your hand.

ThinkReservations does not have a property management app.

In addition to over one hundred powerful reports, ResNexus innovated the bed and breakfast industry with Night Audit functionality. This end-of-day sequence allows you to easily monitor and verify actions taken at your property for each day and generate specific reports to give you an accurate view of your business' performance and balance all transactions. What makes the ResNexus Night Audit so unique is it's ability provide a pdf report with hyperlinks to any transaction in the system. This makes coordination and auditing with your accounting staff or service easy and fast.

ThinkReservations provides useful reports to monitor your business. However, ThinkReservations does not have a Night Audit report.
